Today I finish a week at Forks Hospital. I haven’t been doing much, because I was supposed to know a lot less than I really do, so I was in charge of small things. I knew Carlisle could trust me with more important stuff though. I believe today they’ll put me in charge of more difficult things. I’ve learned a lot of stuff, what pills to give, how to treat certain patients. Some of them just need a pill or two, once a day and I also learned how to treat light illnesses. Carlisle said that I’m sort of home-studying with him, in addition to “promoting” me, I didn’t but because of our heightened senses as immortals I’ve been kind of eave’s dropping on most hospital patients.
I was giving pills to Mr. Roth, a sweet old man who doesn’t complain about anything, when Carlisle called me in his office. I didn’t like all this formality but I didn’t bother to complain as that’s how things work.
“Hello, Alice.” he said. ”I have good news; you’ll be in charge of a few patients. Heidi Keller, Carol Anderson, Frank Miller and Karen Hinds. ” He gave me the list, I was a little confused by his anxious tone when he said Carol’s name but I didn’t take much notice. I was pleased, I knew three of my patients, Karen, was a polite little girl with blond hair and Heidi, was a plump middle-aged woman. I knew Frank because I was eave’s dropping on him, he was a spoiled 15 year old boy. I didn’t know Carol and I didn’t remember hearing about her either but I was sure I was going to meet her soon.
“I’ll get to the point, Carol is a newcomer. She can’t remember anything, she is really upset, she was exhausted, and she fainted, somebody found her and brought her to the hospital, she woke up a few hours ago. She doesn’t want to do any test and I can’t figure out if she has something serious. I was kind of hoping that you could see her past, and tell me if she has experienced anything relevant with her case, then I’ll know what to do.”
He told me where she was; I nodded and went out of his office. I spotted her room and paused for a second, she reminded me of myself, a little. She was small, her hair went down to her shoulders, touching them slightly, it was dark brown just like mine. She was a bit nervous, moving all the time, scratching herself or brushing her hair with her fingers. I walked into her room and felt my throat go a bit dry, she smelled really sweet. I shove that thought out of my head and concentrated. I smiled at her, she smiled back shyly.
“Hello dear, how are you feeling, a little nervous?” She shook her head back and forth quickly, her eyes blank.
“Is everything okay dear?”I asked her, a bit worried. She looked at me and I felt like she could see through me.
“I just had a vision.” she blurted out.
